Словотвірні особливості функціонування комісивних мовленнєвих актів

Abstract

Резюме. Мета цієї статті полягає у розгляді способів і засобів функціонування ілокутивних дієслів англійської мови, які виражають комісивні мовленнєві акти. Ми виходимо із розуміння ілокутивів, започаткованого англійськими філософами Дж. Остіном та Дж. Серлем, тобто як дієслів, які виражають певний намір адресанта у процесі його вербальної взаємодії з адресатом.

Abstract. The article deals with the word-building peculiarities of commissive speech acts. The author touches upon the word-building patterns of forming verbs with the illocutionary purpose of commissives, taking into account the subdivision into speech acts expressing promises, personal propositions and guarantees. Communicative tactics are suggested as the way to achieve the speaker's perlocutionary aim. The author comes to the following conclusions. Firstly, in the process of carrying out of the two core speech acts expressing promises and guarantees the speaker makes use of two different tactics: commitment to perform/ not to perform the act in the fonner case and assurance in the latter one. Secondly, conversion pattern N - V is the most productive way of forming commissives, that in the majority of cases function in the fonn of a primary performative - the most informal way of expressing speech acts in symmetric situations.
