A magyarországi ruszinok tervei egy Görögkatolikus érsekség felállítására 1848–1868 között

Abstract

A 19. századi Magyar Királyság nemzetiségei közül a ruszinokat mind anyagi, mind pedig kulturális tekintetben a legszegényebb népként tartották számon.Társadalmuk csonka, más szóval hiányos struktúrájú volt, túlnyomó többségben parasztokból állt. Nemesség és polgárság híján görögkatolikus papságuk töltötte be az elit szerepét. Nemzeti kultúrájuk, irodalmuk kifejlesztésére az egyházi szervezetük nyújtott megfelelő keretet és bázist. Az északkelet-magyarországi ruszinság legjelentősebb egyházi struktúrájának a Munkácsi Görögkatolikus Egyházmegye számított, amelynek joghatósága hét magyarországi megyére (Zemplén, Ung, Bereg, Ugocsa, Máramaros, Szabolcs és Szatmár) terjedt ki. Az Ungvár központtal irányított egyházmegye mindenkori püspöke a ruszinság első számú vezetőjének számított.

Abstract. From 1848 to 1868, the need to raise the Rusyn-dominated Greek Catholic Eparchy of Muk achevo to archdiocese was expressed several times. During the Revolution and War of Indepen dence of 1848–49 Bazil Popovych, Bishop of Mukachevo sought to rely primarily on the help of the Hungarian government. Accordingly, the Consistory of Uzhhorod proposed the creation of an archbishopric that would have included all the Greek Catholic dioceses in Hungary, referring to the “ancient rights” of the Eparchy of Mukachevo. However, neither the revolution ary Hungarian government, nor the Viennese court supported the future establishment of the Archdiocese of Mukachevo. Finally, the Austrian government decided to establish a Romanian archbishopric independent of the jurisdiction of the Hungarian Catholic Church. The issue of Rusyn archdiocese was raised again after the publication of the October Diploma of 1860. This time, the initiative came from Adolf Dobriansky, a councillor with good rela tions with Slovak leaders, who derived Rusyn claims from the feudal “ancient rights” of the Greek Catholic Church. In his program, the councillor suggested the federal transformation of Hungary and the establishment of an independent Rusyn archbishopric and congress. His ideas also influenced many Rusyn priests and secular figures. The traditionally pro-Hungarian Bishop of Mukachevo, Bazil Popovych and his followers rejected Dobriansky’s ideas because of their radical nature. Instead, the Consistory of Uzhhorod wanted to accept Rusyn demands exclusively in cooperation with the Hungarian Parliament. The Diet convened in 1865 reactivated again the Rusyn leaders. Dobriansky, as a Member of Parliament, fought for the acceptance of Rusyn demands, including the establishment of an independent Greek Catholic archdiocese. However, after the Austro-Hungarian Compromise of 1867, Dobriansky lost his leading role in the Rusyn movement. The pro-Hungarian clergy of the Eparchy of Mukachevo was satisfied with the rights enshrined in the Nationalities Law of 1868. The clergy believed that the state subsidies of the Diocese of Mukachevo would have been at risk by the motion of an autonomous Rusyn archbishopric.

Abstrakt. V rokoch 1848 až 1868 sa viackrát prejavila potreba povýšiť Mukačevskú gréckokatolícku eparchiu, v ktorej dominovali Rusíni, na arcidiecézu. Počas revolúcie a vojny za nezávislosť v rokoch 1848 – 49 sa mukačevský biskup Bazil Popovič snažil spoliehať predovšetkým na pomoc uhorskej vlády. Užhorodská únia preto navrhla vytvorenie arcibiskupstva, ktoré by zahŕňalo všetky gréckokatolícke die cézy v Uhorsku, pričom sa odvolávala na „starobylé práva“ Mukačevskej eparchie. Revolučná uhorská vláda ani viedenský dvor však budúce zriadenie Mukačevskej eparchie nepodporili. Rakúska vláda sa napokon rozhodla zriadiť rumunské arcibiskupstvo nezávislé od jurisdikcie uhorskej katolíckej cirkvi. Otázka rusínskej arcidiecézy sa opäť otvorila po vydaní Októbrového diplomu z roku 1860. Tentoraz vyšla iniciatíva od Adolfa Dobrianského, ktorý vyvodzoval rusínske nároky z feudálnych „starobylých práv” gréckokatolíckej cirkvi. Dobriansky vo svojom programe navrhoval federatívnu transformáciu Uhorska a zriadenie samostatného rusínskeho arcibiskupstva a kongresu. Jeho myšlienky ovplyvnili aj mnohých rusínskych kňazov a svetských činiteľov. Tradične promaďarsky orientovaný mukačevský biskup Bazil Popovič a jeho stúpenci odmietali Dobrianského myšlienky pre ich radikálnosť. Namiesto toho chcela užhorodská únia prijať rusínske požiadavky výlučne v spolupráci s uhorským snemom. Snem zvolaný v roku 1865 opäť reaktivoval rusínskych vodcov. Dobriansky ako poslanec bojoval za prijatie rusínskych požiadaviek vrátane zriadenia samostatnej gréckokatolíckej arcidiecézy. Po rakúsko-uhorskom vyrovnaní v roku 1867 však Dobriansky stratil vedúce postavenie v rusínskom hnutí. Promaďarsky orientované duchovenstvo Mukačevskej eparchie sa uspokojilo s právami zakotvenými v národnostnom zákone z roku 1868.
