Abstract: Резюме. Розглянуто особливості полікультурного середовища в контексті загальнокультурного розвитку особистості та показано як відбувався розвиток ідей полікультурності в Україні. З’ясовано форми і методи полікультурного виховання у початковій школі. При розробці моделей і методик полікультурної освіти перед початковою школою стоять такі завдання, що розписані у статті. Доведено важливість зарубіжного досвіду роботи з полікультурними дітьми в початковій школі.
Abstract. The peculiarities of the multicultural environment in the context of general cultural development of the personality are considered and it is shown how the ideas of multiculturalism developed in Ukraine. Forms and methods of multicultural education in primary school have been clarified. Taking into account the contradictory characteristics of children of primary school age, it is stated that multicultural education in primary school should be based on the principle of constantly arming students with knowledge about the peculiarities of different cultures, similarities and differences between them. When developing models and methods of multicultural education, primary schools face such tasks as described in the article. The importance of foreign experience in working with multicultural children in primary school has been proven. Organizational and methodical recommendations are offered for children of primary school age. With the beginning of the Russian war, a significant number of Ukrainian citizens became refugees both in Ukraine and abroad. Therefore, the development of multilingual competence and its relevance in the conditions of martial law are considered. The formation of multilingual competence in students becomes one of the main important communicative competences as the ability to use the native language, the state language and foreign languages based on a valuable attitude to linguistic and cultural diversity and to communicate tolerantly in a multicultural environment. Based on the analysis of research conducted by scientists, the methodological basis of modern foreign language education is the pedagogy of multilingualism, which is based on the idea of effective use of the existing linguistic and cognitive experience of students in the process of mastering other foreign languages and aims to optimize the process of teaching foreign languages by stimulating elements of linguistic, cultural and pedagogical awareness of students and promoting the development of multilingualism.
