Abstract: Abstract. In the article a series of Middle Aurignacian in situ sites and surface loci situated in the Carpathian Basin of the Eastern
Central Europe is analysed using industrial and geochronological criteria recently developed for the respective Middle
Aurignacian materials in Southwestern France. As a result, there were not only recognized the respective materials for
the Carpathian Basin but were also identified both common and specific techno-typological features for taken together
Pan-European Middle Aurignacian materials. Geochronologically, the Carpathian Basin’s sites (starting from GI-8a,
ca. 36,300 cal. BP) are a little younger of the French materials (GI-8c, ca. 37,900 – 37,500 cal. BP). The realized study also
demonstrated a possible series of various site types for Middle Aurignacian settlement pattern observations in the
Carpathian Basin. The resulting analyses also allowed us to see on the new data and knowledge levels a basic Middle
Aurignacian human dispersal from Europe into the East Mediterranean Levant.2022-01-01T00:00:00ZThe Aurignacian in the Carpathian Basin of Eastern Central Europe and its Proto-Aurignacian industry typeYuri E. Abstract: Abstract. The article represents our first article in a series planned by us, with some more following articles on Aurignacian, its industry types and
possible industrial-chronological variability for a large region in the heart of Europe, the Carpathian Basin, Eastern Central Europe. Our study
proposes to define four Aurignacian industry types: Proto-Aurignacian/Aurignacian 0; Early Aurignacian/Aurignacian I; Middle
Aurignacian/Aurignacian II; Evolved Aurignacian with Gora Pufawska II-type microliths. The present article is particularly devoted to ProtoAurignacian sites and understanding its artefact complexity and variability. Certain attempts, based upon a number of artefact classification
mistakes and their erroneous interpretations try to show that the Basin's assemblages in the Banat (south of the Carpathian Basin) allegedly
represent a mixture of Proto-Aurignacian and Early Aurignacian features composing an "Aurignacian 0.5" industry; we demonstrate in detail the
proper Proto-Aurignacian industrial status for all the Basin's sites and their finds, with some reservations for the Krems-Hundssteig site, Lower
Austria. Moreover, the Carpathian Basin Proto-Aurignacian supports well the Aquitaine Aurignacian scheme. Some variability in the lithic
assemblages is explained, in our view through the existence of various site types and their human activities, as it was established for the Ukrainian
Transcarpathian record. Thus, finding some real industry variability endorses the classic French scheme.; Rezumat.
Studiul nostru propune definirea a patru tipuri de industrii aurignaciene:
Proto-Aurignacian/Aurignacian 0; Aurignacian timpuriu/Aurignacian I; Aurignacian Mijlociu/Aurignacian II; Aurignacian Evoluat cu microlite tip Gora
Pufawska II.
Astfel,
existenţa unei variabilităţi la nivelul industriilor litice nu face decât să întărească viabilitatea modelului francez.2021-01-01T00:00:00ZProto- Aurignacian Unique Site Cluster in Europe. Abstract: Abstract. In the article a group of Berehove and Muzhievo surface find spots situated near in situ Proto-Aurignacian Berehove
I site in Transcarpathia (Ukraine) is discussed. The conducted study allow us to take a new look at these loci and
their UP lithics. Instead of the before viewed as a group of Middle Aurignacian real sites, the considering actually
Proto-Aurignacian loci are now understood as representing a series of various supply chain loci with raw material
outcrops, workshops, a site-workshop, and special camps for now Berehove I base camp. All these functionally varying loci and the site situated at raw material outcrops at Berehove Volcanic Shallow Mountain Area do represent
a logistic settlement pattern. Accordingly, it is the first case for European Proto-Aurignacian when a complex settlement pattern with a base camp and sites-satellites is recognized for a closely located cluster of loci. Now recognized
Proto-Aurignacian site of Tibava in Eastern Slovakia most probably also belongs to Berehove and Muzhievo ProtoAurignacian site complex.; Súhrn. Prvé objavy paleolitických lokalít v Zakarpatskej oblasti
na Ukrajine boli uskutočnené ešte koncom 19. stor. miestnym maďarským právnikom a okresným prokurátorom
T. Lehoczkym. Kamenné artefakty z jeho zbierky zaradil
do staršej doby kamennej, presnejšie do mladého paleolitu
až J. Skutil (1938) v roku 1935. Išlo predovšetkým o nálezy
z okolia Mukačeva a Berehova. V tom istom roku J. Skutil
(1938) identifikoval aj prvú in situ paleolitickú lokalitu
Mala hora pri Berehove a zaradil ju do tzv. primitívneho
aurignacienu.
39). Začiatkom 70. rokov boli povrchovým prieskumom
rozpoznané ďalšie lokality (Berehove II – VI, Muzhievo I)
s kolekciami kamennej industrie podobnými ako z Berehova I (Smirnov 1973; Tkachenko 1989; 2003). Všetky boli V. I.
Tkachenkom (1989; 2003) zaradené do strednej fázy stredoeurópskeho aurignacienu. Mimoriadne dôležité výsledky
získal počas revízneho výskumu V. I. Usik v rokoch 2006
a 2007. Prostredníctvom preplavovania sedimentov získal
niekoľko čepieľok typu Dufour, spoločne s variantom
mikročepelí Dufour so striedavou a spodnou (ventrálnou)
zdrojov, ktorému sa od roku 2007 venuje B. Rácz (2013a;
surovín, ktoré zároveň využívali a ďalej distribuovali.2020-01-01T00:00:00ZAurignacian industry types and their «fossiles directeurs» in the Carpathian Basin and East Bohemian Massif: a new study attemptYuri E. Abstract: Abstract. In spite of more than a century long Aurignacian studies in the Carpathian Basin and East Bohemian Massif of the Middle Danube region (since the discovery of Krems-Hundssteig site
– Strobl & Obermaier 1909) and even some synthesis works done during last 10 years (e.g.
Nigst 2012; Demidenko, Škrdla, Nejman 2017; Chu 2018), understanding of various
Aurignacian industries and their specific artifacts (“fossils directeurs / fossil types”) is still far
from clear. The present study attempts to summarize some data from the most understandable
so far for us sites and their materials on the subject using an Aurignacian sensu stricto
chronological-industrial type sequence.
Proto-Aurignacian / Aurignacian 0 is the only now Aurignacian industry type that can be
placed into the time period preceding Heinrich Event 4 (HE-4) and Campanian Ignimbrite (CI)
eruption, ca. 46 000 – 40 000 cal BP, GI-12 – GI-9. Proto-Aurignacian “fossil types” can be
seen through the presence of serial bladelet “carinated” cores, lamelles Dufour of Dufour subtype and Krems points. Proto-Aurignacian sites are known in Lower Austria (KremsHundssteig), Romanian Banat (Coşava, Romaneşti-Dumbrăviţa, Tincova), Ukrainian
Transcarpathia (Beregovo I), possibly some materials in Vojvodina’s Banat (Crvenka-At) and
maybe in Eastern Resava (Orlovača cave, levels 4-3c) in Serbia, as well as in Eastern Slovakia
(e.g. Tibava).2019-01-01T00:00:00Z
