Abstract. "Introducing English Lexicology: In the Beginning Was the Word" is tailored for English language and literature students, particularly those whose first languages are Ukrainian and Hungarian. The textbook covers the basics of English lexicology, providing insights into the meaning, structure, and evolution of words. It comprises eight chapters on topics such as the definition and scope of lexicology, semantics, lexical relations, semantic change, word structure and formation, multiword expressions, the history of English words, and lexicography. Each chapter includes a summary, exercises to reinforce key concepts, and sources for further reading, enabling students to review and test their understanding of the material.
